She grew up in the Colfax area and graduated from Colfax High School in 1942.
She married Cecil “Tyke” Curtis on November 17, 1945 in Seattle, Washington; they celebrated 69 years of marriage. They lived in Seattle, Colfax and Kennewick before moving to Hay where they raised their daughter Christi.
Pollie and Tyke owned and operated Curtis Grocery in Hay, WA for 35 years. As an avid reader she also served as the Hay Librarian for many years.
Pollie treasured her role as mother and grandmother and being active in each of their lives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hay, F.A.N. Club in Hay, TOPS, and enjoyed attending high school basketball games and other local sporting events.
In retirement, Pollie and Tyke spent 22 winters down south. They wintered in Palm Springs for 7 years before purchasing a second home in Yuma, AZ where they spent 14 years.
