Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 5930 Swope Parkway, Kansas City, MO; burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Mr. Boyd was born July 30, 1920, in Granger, IA. He was the son of William Boyd and Susie Willis Boyd. Otis grew up in Madison, IA. He married Fern Nave in 1938, and to this union two children were born, Larry and Rosalind Boyd.

Otis was proprietor of "Boyd-'n'-Son Barbeque", 5510 Prospect. He graduated from cooking school in Chicago in 1939. This enabled him to work in the kitchens of fine restaurants throughout the Kansas City area. In 1946, he opened his first restaurant, a soul food and barbecue, on the historic corner of 12th & Vine. Later he bought a smaller place on 12th & Forest. Neither worked out so he went to work for TWA in 1954. By 1967, he opened the current restaurant at 55th & Prospect. He truly loved everything about the barbecue business.

Otis was a member of the Pioneer Club and St. Louis Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, his wife and one sister.

He is survived by one son, Larry Boyd and one daughter, Rosalind Moore; six grandchildren; four sisters; and a host of other relatives and friends. (Arrangements: E.R. Morris Funeral Chapel, 4316 Troost)
