Mary Elizabeth Stevens, the daughter of Eli Alvin Stevens and Mary Moses, married William Henry Stracener on 2-26-1867 in Upshur County, Texas. They had 10 children of which one didn't survive.

1880 census in Upshur County, Texas lists: W.H., wife Mary E., Children:
L.V. age 12, Neomie 10, Ellen 7, Sammie 5, Missouri 3 and Franklin 6 months.

There is no listing on death certificate of parents names, other than last name of Stevens/Stephens for father. She is listed as widowed.

Death certificate provides information as to burial at Oak Hill on 1-13-1929. Death due to complications of flu and pneumonia. No birthdate given, says she was 78 years old, therefore the birth year of 1851

She is listed with last name, Stracener, on death certificate, but on the application for Confederate Pension, she states after her husbands death she married 2nd to J.N. Woodfin on 8-8-1903. He died on 4-26-1923 and was widowed again. She signed the application as Stracener.
James N. Woodfin is buried at Gilmer City Cemetery with his 1st wife, memorial # 110781500.
