PORT JERVIS — Joan Cherry age 81 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Monday, Oct. 5 at her home. She was born on Dec. 10, 1933 in Port Jervis, the daughter of Nicholas and Agnes Allen Amato, Joan retired as an auditor for the Rhulen-Frontier Insurance Co., in Monticello. After her retirement Joan worked for many years at Gillinder Brothers gift shop in Port Jervis.
She is survived by her son Michael Cherry and his wife Moncia, of Huguenot, her three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was pre-deceased by her brother Nicholas Amato.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minisink Valley Historical Society, PO Box 659, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to a charity of donor’s choice.
