She married James Henry Scullin at St Patrick's Cathedral, Ballarat on 11 November 1907. They had no children.
When her husband became Prime Minister, they chose to live at the Hotel Canberra, rather than at the Prime Minister's Lodge, as an economy during the depression.
She was her husband's primary carer during periods of serious illness towards the end of his life. She was widowed on 28 January 1953. She died at their home at Park Avenue, Kew, aged 82.
