Born in Belleville, January 30, 1883, Mrs. Voelkel was a daughter of the late Christopher and Mary Ackermann, nee Kraus. Her father was born in Shiloh Valley Township and her mother in Belleville.
On April 17, 1906, she married Jacob Voelkel, a farmer, at Belleville.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four children:
Rudolph Voelkel, Freeburg, Ill.
Elsie, wife of Herbert Schlueter, Freeburg
Eugene Voelkel, New Athens, Ill.
Ernest Voelkel, at home
She also leaves seven grandchildren; a sister and a brother;
Mrs. Emma Beisiegel, Freeburg, Ill.
William Ackermann, Opportunity, Wash.
Another brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday from Gundlach and Company Funeral Home to Green Mount Cemetery. Rev. B. J. Koehler, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Church, will officiate.
