Ernest Grant Greenup was born 14 Mar 1897 in Valley City, Barnes Co., ND to Benjamin Franklin Greenup and Elmira M. Senff. Ernest married Angeline Linney Spivey on 22 Jun 1925 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. The couple had lived in Ventura, CA for 15 years at the time of his death at age 42 on 2 Sep 1939, succumbing to Rheumatic Heart Disease.
Ernest spent some years searching for his long lost brother, Charles Benjamin 'Bennie' Greenup, who disappeared shortly after their mother died in 1903. There was a small photo of Bennie in a Salvation Army Uniform that his sister Edith Kingsbury of Alberta, Canada had but even the Salvation Army had no records of the man. He was never found.
He was survived by his wife, Angie; 2 daughters, Vallalee Myrna Greenup,(later married Leonard L. Dillard Jr.) and Patricia Ella Greenup, (later married Marlyn Gregory Pask Sr.); and five sisters, and two brothers. Ernest was listed as a Carpenter-Building in the 1930 Census in Ventura Co.
