Ernest spent some years searching for his long lost brother, Charles Benjamin 'Bennie' Greenup, who disappeared shortly after their mother died in 1903. There was a small photo of Bennie in a Salvation Army Uniform that his sister Edith Kingsbury of Alberta, Canada had but even the Salvation Army had no records of the man. He was never found.
He was survived by his wife, Angie; 2 daughters, Vallalee Myrna Greenup,(later married Leonard L. Dillard Jr.) and Patricia Ella Greenup, (later married Marlyn Gregory Pask Sr.); and five sisters, and two brothers. Ernest was listed as a Carpenter-Building in the 1930 Census in Ventura Co.
