Raleigh Bowles was born November 19, 1946 in Clay County and departed this life Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his residence, being 67 years of age. He was the son of the late Marie (Bowles) Garland.

Raleigh is survived by his wife Minerva (Thompson) Bowles of East Bernstadt and by four sons, Raleigh Bowles, Jr., Theodore Bowles and Joseph Bowles all of East Bernstadt and Stephen Bowles of London. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Vernon Garland & Jane Davis both of Annville, Robert Garland of London, Beulah Garland of Bond, Raleigh was blessed with three grandchildren, Olivia Grace, Leilah McKenzie and Layton Bowles. Raleigh was proceeded in death by two sisters, Betty Holacker and Joyce Garland,

Raleigh was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart for his honorable services. Raleigh was of the Baptist Faith.

Funeral service was held 2:00PM Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Frank Peters officiating. Burial followed in the Moore Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Bowles, Elmer, Jason, John, Justin & Eason Davis. Military services were conducted by the following members of the local D.A.V. Jack Welch Chapter #165…Jim Bryant, David Gray, Paul Trent, Fred Sandlin, Pamela Barrett, Bobby Lakes, Donald Harrison, Shane Morris, Earl Coffey and Leon Bales. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
