She was born March 20, 1928, in Oil City, the daughter of the late Harold L. and Twila D. (DeArment) Hubbs.
Mrs. Nelson was a 1944 graduate of DuBois Area Senior High School, worked at Deposit Bank as a telephone operator and was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and attended Tri-County Church of God in DuBois.
She loved to plant and nurture flowers, was an avid fan of Penn State Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers, enjoyed watching golf and tennis. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Kristina N. Nelson of DuBois; one son, David H. Nelson and wife, Karen, of DuBois; five grandchildren: Seth D. Nelson of Vandergrift, Betsy Clouser and husband, Adam, Ethan A. Nelson, Matthew R. Nelson, and Michael Hartzfeld, all of DuBois; and four great-grandchildren. She was the last of her generation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold M. Nelson, who she married Nov. 25, 1954, in DuBois and who passed away June 1, 2005; and brother, Donn Hubbs.
Friends are invited for a time of gathering at Tri-County Church of God from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at the Tri-County Church of God with Pastor David Bish officiating. Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc. in DuBois.
