Born October 5, 1925 at Tralee, WV, he was the son of the late Lewis "Henry" Lane (1897-1961) and Sarah Tolliver-Lane (1894-1954).
Mr. Lane was a WWII Army Combat veteran having served the allied forces in Germany. He was a retired pipe liner for Columbia Gas with 35 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, but he loved being with his family most of all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Pansy G. Mullens-Lane (1929-1999) whom he married on October 22, 1950 in New Richmond, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1950, Page 2, Application Date: October 14, 1950); and an infant son, Jeffrey Lane (Deceased).
Also preceding him in death are his grandson, Calvin Lane (Deceased); and his siblings, Dolly Lane-Buchanon (1918-Deceased), Nelson "Amos" Lane (1921-2006), Bertie Lane-Mullins (Deceased), Carrie Ellen Lane-Dunford (1924-2009), Mart Lane (1928-2013), and Bethel Lane (Deceased).
Survivors include four sons: Donnie Lane of Hanover; Freddie Lane and his wife, Lanette of Raven Dale, CA; Walter “Rusty” Lane, Jr. and his wife, Melissa New of Marlinton, WV and Sidney Lane of Hanover; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Mullens Family Cemetery, Makejah’s Ridge with Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating.
