Laura "Lolly" Ackley, 87, of Minong died at her home on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014.

Lolly was born on July 19, 1927, in Minong to Joe and Luella Denninger. After graduating from Minong High School, she was united in marriage to James Denham in January 1947. The couple lived in Cumberland until 1958 when they returned to Minong and owned and operated Jim and Lolly's Bar until 1973.

After James' death, Lolly acquired and ran the Hometown Bar in Minong for several years.

Lolly was a member of the Wisconsin Tavern League, Minong Lions Club, TOPS, the Rebecca Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Misfits Ladies Pool Team. After her retirement, she was caretaker for the Acorn Apartments where she was currently living.

Lolly is survived by her sons, Richard (Mary) Denham of Janesville and Thomas (Carla) Denham of Superior; five grandchildren, Julie Denham of Minong, Dionne (Jeff) King of Milwaukee, James (Caroline) Denham of Boston, Mass., Nicole Denham of Seattle, Wash., and William (Alyssa Bryant) Denham of Superior; five great-grandchildren, Caden, Ethan, Claire, Chase, and Brooklyn; sister Lucyann Edwards of Minong; and many nephews and nieces.

Lolly was preceded in death by her parents; husbands James Denham and Earl Ackley; two sisters; and three brothers.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong with Pastor Sara Pearson officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and also from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Minong.

Casket bearers will be William Denham, James Denham, Caden Denham, Jeff King, Harvey Fiedler, and Lester (Skip) Fiedler.
