Chester Egbert Adams, Sr., 81, of Olla, passed from this life on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia.
He was born June 30, 1934 in Sikes to the union of his parents, Joseph Egbert and Myra Ola Johnson Adams.
Chester served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a retired Shipping Supervisor for Louisiana Pacific and loved to sing.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, in the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with the Revs. Don Blackmon and Dennis Baker officiating.
Interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Sikes under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert Adams and Richard Dolan Adams; sisters, Vaudeen Vickers, Rosalie Neal, Sammie Cox, and Ola Vee Adams; grandson, Matthew Culberson; and great grandson, Kristian Adams.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Gloria Lee Callendar Adams; children, Jeannie (Lee) Gorham, Karen (Dennis) Baker, Chester (Julie) Adams, Jr., and Lori (Kenneth) Culberson; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Hollis Adams and Hubert Adams, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
