Mrs. Eveline Stevens, wife of Ayers Stevens, departed this life January 9, 1900. She was born and lived a noble life, devoted to a kind husband and the rearing of a useful and respected family. Deceased was born in Morrow County, Ohio, December 19, 1837, and moved to Essex Township when but a young girl and as such is considered an early pioneer of this county.
She was married to Ayers Stevens in 1853 in Essex Township and together they have trod the path of duty, pleasure and responsibility, for the past 46 years. She was the mother of 10 children.
She became one of the first members of the Christian church at Maple Rapids about 40 years ago and had never wavered in her loyalty to the cause. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Elisha Mudge, of Maple Rapids, and the internment made in Eureka Cemetery.
