George Burridge, 96, of Libertyville, died June 3, 1983 at Condell memorial Hospital, Libertyville.

He was born Feb. 14, 1887 in Ontario, Canada and had been a Libertyville resident most of his life. He was a member and former vestryman at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville.

A lifelong nurseryman, Mr. Burridge was the owner of Fairholm Gardens Nursery in Libertyville and was a member of the Libertyville-Mundelein Men’s Garden Club. He was also a former member of the Illinois State Nursery Association. He also was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Libertyville American Legion Post 329.

Survivors include one son, George (Marge) Burridge of Libertyville; one daughter, Margaret (Howard) McBride of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Steven (Mary Ellen) McBride of San Antonio, Texas, Jean Burridge of Urban, and Ruth (Eric) Walter of Tuscaloosa, Ala. And one great-grandson, Scott McBride.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie, Dec. 5, 1972.

Services were June 7 at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, Libertyville, with the Rev. roger White officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville.
