Swede Farris, 84, of Louisville passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, at his rural home, Louisville, Illinois. He was born September 1, 1931, the second son of Albert and Loretta (Simmons) Farris.

On November 7, 1954, he married Joy Beals. He was a life-long farmer, raising cattle, hogs and grain. He thoroughly enjoyed his animals and made sure they had the best of care. He was an avid fan of college sports and held season tickets for over twenty years to basketball and football games at the University of Illinois. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Louisville, Illinois.

On September 5, 2000, he was united in marriage with Billie (Bounds) Ross.

Swede is survived by his wife; daughters, Teresa (Jeff) Henderson; Karon (Jim) Stanfield and Sharon (Alan) Porter; Grandchildren, Chance (Estela) Simms;Alexandria Porter and special friend, Josh Rakers; Brogan (Brittany) Simms, Ashton (Cody) Connerley, Ariel Porter, Jarrett Stanfield, and Chloe Kessler; great-granddaughter, Emelyn Simms; former son-in-law, Ted Whitehead; nephews, Gary (Judi) Farris and Greg Farris; and niece, Gail Farris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; daughter, Lisa Lynn Whitehead; and two grandsons, Adam Nicolas Whitehead and Shay Alan Porter.

A memorial service was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, Illinois, with Phil Poe and Ben VanHyning officiating.

Private burial in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Illinois.
