Alice Maude Farmer, the daughter of Stephen and Lucretia (Stryker) Wilcox, was born December 24, 1904, near Eagle Grove in Wright County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1924. On December 16, 1936, she was united in marriage to Harold Farmer at Eagle Grove where they made their home. They owned and operated Farmers Cafe in Eagle Grove for many years. The family's ancestors were the first white settlers in Wright County. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove.


Alice M. Farmer died on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 102 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1969; five sisters, Nell Shipman, Irene Wilcox, Olive Wilcox, Evalyn Driscoll, and Helen Dawson; great granddaughter, Cristina Wang Epps; nephew, Duane Shipman; and two nieces, Lauris Plunkett and Monice Larson. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Epps, and husband, Paul, of Highland Park, Calif.; three grandsons, Lonnie Epps of Highland Park, Calif., Harold Epps, and wife, Liping, of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Kenneth Epps, and wife, Michele, of Yucaipa, Calif.; six great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, Jessica, Kurtis, Kyle and Kathryn (Katie) Epps; two nieces, Marge Bartley of Eagle Grove, and Shelley Baerwaldt of Pottsboro, Texas, and two nephews, Stephen Dawson of Dallas, Texas, and Stuart Dawson of New York, New York;


Alice Farmer's wishes were to be cremated with memorial services at a later date. Condolences can be sent to: Glenda Epps, 708 N. Avenue 53, Los Angeles, CA.
