DEATH CLAIMS TWO PIONEERS OF THE COUNTY
Wesley Bond Passed Away Today at the Local Hospital
Both Men Born in County and past Eighty Years of Age
Wesley Bond, who would have been eighty years of age next November, died at the Hamilton county hospital in this city, early Saturday morning, of heart trouble and other complications. He had been in the hospital for treatment two or three weeks. The body will be taken to the home of a brother Austin Bond, in Carmel, where friends may call Sunday or Monday forenoon. The funeral will be held in the Chester Friends church north of Westfield on the Range Line road, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, and the interment will take place in the cemetery near the church.
Mr. Bond lost his wife three years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Ruth and Gertrude, of Indianapolis, and the following brothers, all residents of Carmel: Austin, Jesse and William Bond. A sister, Mrs. Malissa Hill, of Greensboro, N. C., is also living.
The deceased was born in the vicinity of Carmel, being the son of Calvin Bond, one of the pioneer undertakers of the southwestern part of the county. He remained in that section of the county until he was about thirty years of age and then moved to the Chester neighborhood, northwest of Westfield, where he spent the remainder of his life as a farmer. He was a member of the Friends Church.
