Born in Catawba County, NC, she was the widow of the late Winston Lee Spencer and daughter of the late Troy Lee Mathis, Sr. and Fannie (Proctor) Mathis.
Retired from textiles, she was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church.
She loved gardening, flowers, crafts and animals, especially her cat 'Madison'.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Ann Hill, Kathy Sue Motts and Barbara Jean Bostic (Eddie), all of Gaffney; a brother, Joe Mathis of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Brandy Dewayne Davis and fiance, Carol Smith, Martha Leann Lewis (Robert), Shannon Dixon Hill (Sara), Ashley Victoria Hill and fiance, Scott Price, Steven Christopher Motts and Wayne Lee Motts (Hayley); fourteen great-grandchildren, Christian, Jane, Jacob, Kayden, Danica, Jaydon, Hannah, Braelyn, Madeline, Caroline, Ethan, Abigail, Matthew, and Kenton;
She was preceded in death by a son, Rocky Lee Spencer, three brothers, Larry Mathis, Junior Mathis and Billy Mathis, two sisters, Geraldine McAbee and Daisy Sisk, a grandson, James (Jamie) Lee Spencer and a great-great- grandchild, Robert Wayne Lewis, III.
The family extended special thanks to her caregivers Ellen Bridges, Melissa Small, Danielle Sherbert, Rosa Wilkie, Joy Scott, Leighton Woodfin and the late Diane Tucker.
The family received friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Blakely Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Phillips, Dr. Keith Harrill and Rev. Everette Peterson officiating. Interment was in the Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
