Japanese Actress. She was known for her compelling roles both on film and television. She debuted as a singer in 1979 while a student at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. While a late night disc jockey in 1981, Kawashima was noticed and given a chance in acting. She continued into acting until her passing. Kawashima appeared in such films and television series as "Kagi" (1997), "Female Prisoner Punisher Maria" (1994), "Iguana no musume" (1996), "At Home Dad" (2004), and "Maitresse" (2000). She has also been the subject of several photo books.
