Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Dumas Wells are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Septemeber 26, 2015, in chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Mrs. Julia Whittington, Rev. Luther Sanson and Rev. Don Slack officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends Friday, September 25, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Golden's.
Lena Dumas Wells was born to Beatrice Slack Dumas and Barney C. Dumas on January 22, 1927. She lived most of her life in Bastrop, LA, and retired from the Morehouse School Lunch Room after 18 years. She loved to cook and to do things for her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Barney C. Dumas and Beatrice Slack Dumas Rushing; sister, Osie Lee Dumas Smith; three brothers, Bud Dumas, Reese Dumas and Tommie Dumas; one grandson, Master SGT. Jack N. Baker, Jr, and her husband, J.T. Wells.
Mrs. Wells is survived by her son, Leon Martin and wife Terri of Olive Branch, MS; daughters, Joyce Martin, Angela Hughes, Jan Wells Corrent and husband Danny, all of Bastrop, LA; grandsons, Scott Martin of Ruston, LA, Eric Carney of Monroe, LA, Ryan Morris and Raven Morris of Bastrop, LA and Chris Corrent of Monroe, LA; granddaughters, Belinda McKoin of West Monroe, LA, and Rachel Hughes Allen of Monroe, LA and several great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Scott, Eric, Ryan, Raven, Rachel and Chris. Honorary pallbearer will be Nelson Burchfield.
