Survived by his wife, Lela Burgen, at the home; one son, James A. Burgen, Spokane; one daughter, Susan L. Zeisler, Sacremento, CA; one brother, Stanley L. Burgen and one sister, Erma Blasen, both Vancouver, WA; three grandchildren, Kimberly Joanne and Timothy Zeisler, Sacramento, CA.
Member of the community since 1945, member of Cathdral of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Phi Delta Kappa, AARP, Spokane Area Retired Teachers Association and a life memeber of Sons of Norway.
He was a machine shop instructor at Shadle Park High Schook, Mass of Christian Burial, Friday February 17, 1989 at 10 a.m., Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, W 1115 Riverside. Rev James M. Ribbie officiating. Interment Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home in charge.
Memorials may be made to Morning Star Boys Ranch, Holy Family Adult Day Center or American Cancer Society.
