Chet Harris, 67, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Born to Chet and Dorothy Ralich Harris on February 18, 1948. He was born, raised and lived his entire life in Lorain, Ohio. He attended Lorain Community College and Akron University for three years with a focus on social sciences and business. He served in the US Naval Reserve for four years and was promoted to weapons officer personnel man after three months.

Chet worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 36 years in shipping and receiving where he retired in 2008. He was hired at the Lorain Senior Center in December of 2014 where he found much joy and many dear friendships.

He is survived by his daughter Courtney Harris Jabaut (Jared); former spouse and good friend, Shelley Szafran (Alan); sister, Sally Huge; niece, Pam Huge Prieto; nephew, Kenny Huge (Shirley); former brother-in-law and best friend, Jim Nolan; and many cousins.

Chet was a loving and extremely proud father to his surviving daughter, Courtney Harris Jabaut. He was always a man who loved to entertain a crowd, make people laugh, and share his infectious smile. He loved helping people, and he had an amazing work ethic. Chet always enjoyed sports – especially football, his NY Yankees and the Chicago Bulls. He had a true love for music and was very passionate about The Rolling Stones and guitarist, Keith Richards.

Chet was burried Friday, August 14th, 2015 at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
