George Thomas Potts was born on January 19, 1874 near Nolensville in Rutherford County, Tennessee, the son of Zacheriah Taylor Potts (1848-1922) and Nancy Jane "Nannie" (McClaren) Potts (1848 - 1910).
He moved to Nashville about 1905 and was married on August 22, 1906 in Davidson County to Beulah Earheart (1888-1973), the daughter of Joseph A Earheart (1843-1928) and Sarah Jane (Maynard) Earheart (1857-1944) .
George served in the US Army during the Spanish-American War. A long-time self-employed livestock dealer, he was also a member of the Baptist church.
He was living at 2811 Nolensville Road was 74 years old, married and diabetic when he died of a cerebral hemorrhage on August 12, 1948 at Nashville's VA Hospital, where he had been for 9 hours following a stroke.
Survivors included his wife, daughters Mrs Ella Mae (Potts) Hussey (1908-2001) of Smyrna TN and Mrs Alice Lorene (Potts) Veevers (1910-2002) of Nashville, brother Arthur Taylor Potts (1877-1957) of Una TN and six grandchildren
Funeral Services were held at Cosmopolitan Funeral Home, and burial was on August 14th in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
