Son of George Alfred and Susannah Danby, of 22 Prestbury Road, Liverpool.

Alan served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve with 405 RCAF Squadron based at Pocklington. He was a Bomb Aimer on Halifax W1175 LQ-C that took off at 23:32 hrs for an operation to bomb Bremen in Germany. On the homeward bound journey, the aircraft was hit by heavy (schwere) Flak and crashed on sandbank De Waard in the Wadden Sea off Friesland.
Six of the crew were reported as missing in action, they have no known grave. The body of Air Gunner 407695 Flt Sgt Murray Ralph Kleisdorff of the RAAF is buried in Harlingen General Cemetery Plot E. Row 2. Grave 4.:
