Leo Arthur, 75, of Clarion, died Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa, in Mason City. Veteran’s services will be held at a later date.

Leo Merlen Arthur was born February 9, 1940, a son of Galen and Bertha (Lundy) Arthur. He attended school in Clarion. Leo enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1957. He served on the destroyer USS Kidd among other vessels.

Leo married and had two children and returned to Clarion, he worked construction but was well known as a Jack-of-all-Trades.

Leo was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed fun practical jokes. He enjoyed hunting but really loved fishing.

Survivors include his partner of 30 years, Carol Christensen; sons: Mike (Tanya) Arthur; Chris Arthur; brothers: Lelon (Carol) Arthur; Wayne (Barbara) Arthur; grandchildren: Presley, Aaron, Griffin Arthur and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Elvin, Elmer, Archie, Eldon, Gale, Larry and sister Sadie.

Lelon Arthur, 83, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion with a brief memorial service at 3:00 PM.

Lelon Merle Arthur, the son of Gaylen and Bertha (Lundy) Arthur, was born February 9, 1940 in Clarion, Iowa. Lelon grew up and attended school in Clarion.

He knew at a young age that he wanted to work on cars for a living. He started his career working for Hermie Nelson in Clarion before moving to Emmetsburg where he worked for Ken Krause Motors. He then moved back to Clarion to open his own shop specializing in restoring cars.

He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Draeger in September of 1957. To this union four daughters were born. The couple raised their family in Emmetsburg and Clarion.

In his free time, Lelon enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a fan of Glen Campbell, Westerns, and Patrick Mahomes. Most of all, Lelon loved being around his family and playing card, board and yard games.

He will be missed for his sense of humor, his tricks and his family man heart.

He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Amspoker of Manson, Shelly (Mike) Mehan of Fort Dodge, Sue (Mark Gargano) Mileham of Fort Dodge and Steve Mileham, and Sherry (Willy) Moore of Wichita, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother Wayne (Barb) Arthur of Alexander along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
