Father's Occupation: Private - Royal Engineer.
Twin brother of Margaret & sibling of Robert, William & John.
Husband of Mary Bridget (White) McClure of Partick, (35 Hyndland Street), Glasgow City, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
(Mary was born: 3.11.1886 at Bayview, Frenchfurze, Carrigaline, Co. Cork, Ireland until she passed on 25.2.1964 at Chicago, (7050 S. Elizabeth Street), Cook, Illinois 60636, USA).
MERCANTILE MARINE
Ship: S.S Rio Verde (London).
Ship Occupation: Boatswain (Bosun & Lamps).
Service To: British Army (Forces War Records).
He drowned as a result of an attack by enemy submarine on the S.S. "Rio Verde" (London).
The crew of ' S.S. Rio Verde' were not Military, they were "civilians" and were regarded as such by the "Military".
They had no Rank other than their Trade designation.
They had a significant struggle after WW1 to get recognised and had to create their own monument at Tower Hill.
They belatedly got a medal, but very few got the Penny.
