Russell Lawrence Talley Jr. of Meridian, born January 19, 1933, died of natural causes on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally; his four sons, Les, Dan, Murray and Mike; and his 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Russ was born and raised In Idaho Falls. His parents were Russ Talley, Senior, and Wanda Bateman.

He was raised by his mom and loving stepfather, Carl Westerberg. He had one stepbrother, Bob Westerberg.

He graduated in 1951 from Ucon High, married Sally Webb in 1952 and then joined the Navy until 1956. He then started farming with his step-dad.

He pursued a musical career in the 60's and was a drummer for the Hap Miller Orchestra in Sun Valley, Idaho. Later in life, he played in several different bands and venues throughout Idaho.

Russell was also an excellent salesman. He was an active member of AA for 43 years and is loved and respected by many in the program to this day.

Dad was good-looking, charming and had a great sense of humor and will be missed! Rest in peace, Dad…

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 12, at 4330 Hillcrest Drive, Boise, Idaho.
