Preliminary investigation shows that two children, ages 2 and 4, died in that fire. They have since been identified as Aleecia and Abby Yager. Kentucky State Police say that the father of the children, Samuel Yager, was home at time of the fire. He was alerted of the fire by a neighbor or passerby who woke him up. Samuel attempted to save his daughters but the smoke and fire proved to be too much to overcome. He was able to escape out of a window. Police say that when they arrived on the scene that flames had overtaken the home and that it was too dangerous to enter.
