He was born on December 11, 1938 to the late Arnetta Breen Bartley and the late Joseph William Bartley. He grew up in Stamping Ground, Kentucky, attended Stamping Ground Elementary School and graduated from Scott County High School. Carroll retired following more than 40 years as an engineer for the Kentucky Department of Highways. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Stamping Ground.
Carroll served faithfully as a deacon and in various other capacities for more than 25 years as a member of the First Baptist Church, Owenton Kentucky. He had a humble servant’s heart and set the gold standard for what it means to “walk the walk”.
In addition to his parents, Carroll was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Gary Bartley. Carroll was the husband of Nancye Harlow Bartley for nearly 56 years, the father of Carole Mollette (Glenn) and Alice Newby as well as the grandfather of 6, as well as great-grandfather of 1. Carroll was the brother of Ronnie Bartley (Violetta), brother-in-law of Patricia Wolf (Raymond), Connie Helton (Eugene), and Hope Bartley as well as the stepson of Pauline Bartley. He was also a nephew, cousin and uncle. He was a friend to everyone who knew or met him. Carroll’s legacy of Christian faith and love will be carried in the hearts of all who loved him and passed down for generations.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at McDonald and New Funeral Home in Owenton, Kentucky (Seminary Street location) from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A celebration of the life of Carroll William Bartley will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Owenton, Kentucky at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground Kentucky. Donations may be made in Carroll’s memory to the Owenton First Baptist Church.
