Dora Davis was the daughter of John F. and Victoria Rodgers Davis. During her early life, John was a farm worker and Victoria stayed in the home to raise their four children: Delbert, Paul, Dora and Oma Edna. Dora never married but on the 1920 census she and her sister were sales clerks in a department store and living together. When their father died, Victoria came to live with them and Dora stayed at home to care for her.

The certificate of death indicated Dora died of a stroke secondary to hypertension.
