(December 3, 1937 - September 9, 2015)

Junior Ball (Shriner and Mason of Newport Lodge for 29 years) formerly of Waterville, NC passed away peacefully at Newport Medical Center on September 9, 2015.

He was preceded in death by parents Jake and Annie Ball, four brothers, and four sisters.

He is survived by his devoted wife Helen Ball of Newport, Tennessee where they made their home for 34 years. He is also survived by his seven children Bridgett(Patrick) Hopkins, Jeffrey Ball, Brenda (Jack) Hannah, Gene (Lisa) Ball, Melissa Jones, Michael (Amy Mae) Ball, Rodney (Kiesha) Ball, sister Bethona Smith, daughter-in-law Amy Anthony and son-in-law Marion Jones, fourteen grandchildren Amy, Mikie, David, Robin, Brandon, Patricia, Jody, Hunter, Mea, Erin, Cameron, Jolee, Abbigayle, Addison, eleven great grandchildren, special niece Kristi Valentine, several other nieces and nephews, special friend Dell, and a host of many other great friends.

Junior was a local historian for the Mount Sterling community. He loved spending time outdoors in the mountains of North Carolina enjoying hobbies such as hiking, riding 4-wheelers, bear hunting, and digging ginseng with friends and family. Junior’s favorite of all was spending time with his family sharing his history and many years of wisdom.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday September 11, 2015 with funeral services following at 12:00 p.m. in Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Sterling Church (White’s) Cemetery.
