March 2.— John Adams, aged 56 years, who was discharged from the Garrison Battalion less than six months ago, passed away peacefully in his sleep early on Saturday morning.
The deceased was a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, and arrived in Australia some 10 years ago.
'Jock' saw active service at Gallipoli during the last war, in which he was wounded. When the present conflict broke out he was amongst the first of the Diggers to offer their services, he joined the Garrison Battalion and served for about three years, being discharged last September.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters. A.C.W. Marv Adams (W.A.A.A.F.). Sergeant Marian Adams (W.A.A.A.F.), and one son, John.
The funeral moved from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon, all arrangements being made by the Ayr sub-branch of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A. The casket, covered with the Australian flag, was carried to its last resting place by members of the League. Following a short service conducted by the Rev. A. W. Laurie, the Diggers' burial service was read by Mr. F. W. Reading. Poppies were dropped into the grave by fellow Diggers after the interment.
