Resident of San Lorenzo Phyllis Meredith passed away April 8, 2009. Born in Oakland, CA on December 5, 1928, Phyllis lived her entire 80 years as a Bay Area resident. She will be missed by her husband of 59 years, Thomas, her daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Bill Wray of Nevada City, CA; grandson Josh, granddaugh- ters JoAnn, Joyce and Jackie; sister Betty Kreidler, niece Terry, nephews Chip and Curt and so many more relatives and friends. Included in her life were six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. To leave her life before their time were her son, Brian and her great grandson Jeffrey. Phyllis was an active participant in the Oakland Motorcycle Club Auxiliary, Women's Life Insurance Society and a docent on her beloved SS Jeremiah O'Brien. Her Lunch Bunch, Sewing Club and Whoopers Cruise group will miss her laughter. When Phyllis met Tom in the seventh grade, they were partnered for the waltz in dance class and thus, partnered for life. Described as a wonderful, gracious lady, she rode through life in the passenger seat of tiny sports cars, large motorcycles and numerous assorted boats. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SS Jeremiah O'Brien, 1275 Columbus Avenue, #300, San Francisco, CA 94133 or the Oakland Children's Hospital.
