Donald S. Law, Jr., 89 of Vestal, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2015 after a short illness. He is predeceased by his devoted wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" M. Law of Vestal, New York; his beloved daughter, Mary Law Douglas of Peru, New York; his parents, Donald S. Law, Sr. and Helen Law of Brooklyn, New York; his sister, June C. Eberbach; and his nephew, Robert Eberbach.

After Don graduated from an engineering program in college, he served his country in the United States military during World War II and attended Cornell University while in the service. In 1972, following completion of service as Resident Director of Greer Children Services Hope Farm in Millbrook, New York, Don became Resident Director of the Susquehanna Valley Home on the Southside of Binghamton, New York. Upon retirement, Don and Betty made their home in Vestal, New York. He was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton, where he faithfully served as an Elder. Don was in the first class of Commissioned Lay Pastors for Susquehanna Valley Presbytery and was considered the "Dean" of that program for his work in developing the program, mentoring other lay preachers, and his readiness to offer worship and leadership with careful, well-prepared, and challenging sermons wherever he was invited to do so. Don and Betty fully lived their faith and committed their lives to deepening that faith through meditation, study and prayer. Don and Betty traveled widely and were members of the Friendship Force. Don was also an accomplished musician and a member of the Vivace Recorder Group. He was fully engaged in charitable and philanthropic work, the arts and his community.
