Charlotte A. Black, 86, formerly of Garland, Pa., died on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at the Rouse Home in Youngsville.
She was born on April 6, 1929, in Pittsfield, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles S. and Twila Bailey Jewell.
Char was raised and educated in Pittsfield. She attended Youngsville High School. Following her marriage, she maintained her family home and raised her children. In 1970, she went to work for Garland Farms and was employed there until 1990. Char then began at Torpedo WireStrip in 1991 as a receptionist and retired from there in May of 1995. She then worked as a greeter at WalMart in Corry for a few years.
She was a member of the Garland Presbyterian Church where she was a church elder. Char was also a very active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Garland Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed playing bingo.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death on July 23, 1998, by her husband, James A. Black, whom she married on March 22, 1947, in Youngsville, Pa.; by three sisters, Gladys Oviatt, Audrey Sickler and Marie McKinney; a brother, David Jewell; a soninlaw, Paul Bean; and a greatgranddaughter, Alexandria Sioux.
Char is survived by two daughters, Doris Theuret and her husband Dennis of Corry, Pa., and Kathy Bean of Pittsfield, Pa.; a sister Shirley Bull of Garland, Pa.; and a brother, Edward Jewell of Wrightsville, Pa.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michele Wesoloski and her husband Darin of Greenville, Pa., Paula Confer and her husband Andrew “Boomer” of Pittsfield, Pa., Jolene Romanosky and her husband Mike of Pittsfield, Pa., and Michael Theuret and his wife Yolanda of Corry, Pa.; and six greatgrandchildren, Samantha Saylor and her husband Chad of Las Vegas, NV., Ericka Wyman and her husband Scott of Corry, Pa., Brett Wesoloski and his companion Kristina Coulter of Greenville, Pa., Devon Wertz, Merrik Romanosky and Vanessa Romanosky, all of Pittsfield, Pa; and four great great grandchildren, Issabella, Dominick, Bailey and Halle, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and attend services there on Friday at 11 am. Rev. Timothy Olsen will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Spring Creek, Pa.
