Mrs. Henrietta Strumpel Finds Rest After Great Suffering.
After months of suffering from cancer, Mrs. Henrietta Strumpel died last night at 10 o’clock at her home on lower Independence avenue. the deceased had been afflicted with cancer for nearly a year. When the spot first appeared there was little attention paid to it, Mrs. Strumpel being a strong and healthy woman, and it was not until the dread affliction had gained considerable headway that it was given medial or surgical attention. It was then too late. For the last few weeks of her illness the patient suffered terribly.
The maiden name of the deceased was Henrietta Timmerman, and she was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, on April 2, 1852. She came with her parents to this country when quite a young girl.
She was married to John Strumpel in Bremer county on May 21, 1886, and one son, Fred, who survives, was born to them. Mr. Strumpel lived only one year after his marriage. The widow and her son came to Waterloo six years ago and this city has since been their home.
Two sisters, Mrs. August Apling of Waterloo and Mrs. Sophia Miller of Bremer county, survive, also two brothers, Fred Timmerman of this city and Joachim Timmerman, who is a resident of Illinois.
Mrs. Strumpel was a member of the German Evangelical Lutheran church, corner of Walnut and Vine streets.
