Mrs. Hammon Passes Away In Hospital
Mrs. Albert J. (Ruth) Hammon Jr., Lamphere Rd., who had been prominent in the Order of the Eastern Star, died Sunday night in the Rome Hospital. She had been in failing health since the first of the year and hospitalized the past month.
Mrs. Hammon was born in Rome on June 26, 1914, daughter of Floyd B. and Ella Heburn Rathbun. She was educated in Rome schools and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. She and Mr. Hammon were maried on April 18, 1934. Was District Deputy She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and of Waakena Chapter, OES, serving as matron in 1954 and again in 1961. In 1962, Mrs. Hammon was appointed district deputy grand matron of the Oneida-Lewis District, OES. She was also a member of John H. Allendorf Court, Order of the Amaranth; Zeba Caldron, Daughters of Mokanna; Uarda Temple, Daughters of the Nile, and Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge, IOOF. Mrs. Hammon is survived by her husband, her mother; a son; two daughters; a sister; two brothers and three grandchildren. ... Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, New Hartford.
