Guy died January 15, 1967, in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin. Vi died July 25, 1996, in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin.

MADISON -- Viola L. Mayfield, age 91, of Madison, died on Thursday, July 25, 1996, at a local hospital. She was born on December 8, 1904, in Patch Grove, Wisconsin, the daughter of Vincent and Hattie (Basing) Nies, and had been a long time Madison resident. She formerly worked at Research Products Corp., here in Madison, and was active as a volunteer for the Democratic Party Committee. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include two brothers, Ben Nies of San Antonio, Texas, and Clarence Nies of Petaluma, California; two sisters, Louise (Pete) Robinson of Muscoda, Wisconsin, and Velma Hansch of Middleton, Wisconsin; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Guy in 1967. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 1996, with Rev. Charles Wolfe officiating Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
