In the 1850 Census William is about six months old and living in Plainfield, Will county, Illinois. His mother, Laura/Louisa and grandmother, Matilda Reed are listed in the census.

William's father, Hiram, was naturalized in Lake county, California on 25 Aug 1877. In 1879 Hiram registered to vote in Lake County. He states the he was born in Canada and is a blacksmith living in Scotts Valley, California. William's older half brother, Ebenezer Allen, also registered to vote, but I don't find William.

William is living with two older brothers, Charles and Ebenezer Allen and their families in Indian Valley, Colusa county, California during the 1880 census. The brother's father, Hiram, is listed as widowed. Charles and William are farmers. Ebenezer is a hotel keeper. He owns a resort at Blue Lakes.

William married Laura Louise Nobles 29 Oct 1895 in Kingman, Arizona Territory. He stated that he was a resident of Independence, Inyo county, California.

Dr Louise Graham advertised the opening of her Obstetrics and diseases of women practice in Phoenix, Arizona on 1 September 1896. "Office and residence, upstairs in Cotton block, corner Washington and Center Streets." Ads ran in the Arizona Republic newspaper through Dec 1896.

In 1900 William and Louise are living in Tacoma, Pierce county, Washington. William is a carpenter.

In 1910 William and Louise are living in Los Angeles, California. William is a carpenter.

The Inceville Motion Picture Studio where William was killed in 1918 was owned by Thomas H Ince, director/producer. Ince (and his successors) shot mostly westerns. Extensive outdoor western sets were built and used for a number of years. Production ceased in 1922 and the whole thing was burned to the ground on 4 July 1924.
