Ila Leaf, 71, 862 S. Farnham Street, Galesburg, died in Sandburg Care Center on Saturday, 29 July 1989, at 8 pm. She was born in Berwick on 9 Nov 1917, the daughter of Simon and Alpha (Swanson) Hanson. She married Victor Leaf in Burlington, Iowa, 22 Dec 1937. He died in 1971.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Leaf of near Keithsburg, and Gary Leaf, Galesburg; one brother, Lyle Hanson, Knoxville, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She worked at the former Benner Tea Co. store here for many years. She then was a sitter for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Altar Gild, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, War Mothers, and the Knoxville Woman's Club.

Funeral services were held in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, with Rev. Michel Clark officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society, the family said.
