He was born February 25, 1819, in Chatham County, North Carolina.
He and Elizabeth Neal were married December 09, 1851 in Chatham County. They had eight children. The Poe family migrated to Northwest Arkansas in 1860. Elizabeth died before the 1870 Census.
Thomas and Lucinda Rogers Coatney were married in 1875 in Crawford County, Arkansas. To this union four daughters were born.
He is buried at Oliver Cemetery in Crawford County, Arkansas.
