May Hedrick Wilson McKinney, age 81, of Erwin, TN formerly of the Big Creek Community, passed away on Sunday, August 30th, 2015. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Bob and Hammey Whitson Hedrick. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Wilson; step-mother, Jessie Adkins Hedrick; sister, Pansey Hensley and brothers: Ray and Glen Hedrick. May enjoyed hunting with her daughter-in-law, Carolyn, playing with the grandchildren, cooking, working in her flowers and gardening. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first.

Surviving are her husband, Norman Tobey McKinney; son, Ray Wilson and wife, Carolyn, of Jacks Creek; step-daughter, Sandy Edwards; grandchildren: Shane Wilson and wife, Vanessa, of Big Creek, Kenny Wilson and wife, Jacqueline, of Bakers Creek and Dustin Wilson and fiancee', Courtney Allen, of Jacks Creek; step-grandchildren: Mindy Johnson and husband, Alan, Michael Peterson and wife, Kelly and Aaron Peterson and wife, Kayla; great-grandchildren: Summer, Blake, Christian, Kennedy and Keira Wilson and Kylie Robinson and step-great-grandchildren: Rilee and Connor Peterson and Allie Johnson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 4th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Luther Carver will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 5th in the Peterson Hill Cemetery.
