Samuel J. Serrell was the son of John J. and Mary E. Serrell. He was reared in his native state of New York and there educated and when he was twenty years of age came to Michigan in the year 1865. In 1867 he located in Saginaw, and son thereafter he made his way to Oakland County where he turned his attention to farming. In 1866 he married Miss Adie E. Murline. She died when their son Harry J. was 8 years old. Later on in life Mr. Serrell married Miss Dorothea Palmer.
