Waneta Wonda Copp of Congers passed away on August 3, at the age of 86. She was born on August 15, 1928 in New Milford, PA to Roy and Eulalie (Miles) Fassett. Raised in Binghamton, Waneta and her late husband moved to Rockland County in the mid 1950's residing in Nyack, Rockland Lake, Congers, Piermont and back to Congers. Waneta worked for Letchworth Village in Thiells for over 22 years. She will be remembered for always having a kind heart and helping anyone she could even while raising her six children as a single mom.
Waneta is predeceased by her sons, Jerry and Joseph along with her parents and nine siblings. She is survived by children, Robert "Jimmy" (Rose Marie), John, Jean, Jesse (Margaret, and Joyce, grandchildren, Robert, Renee, Memorie, Michelle, William, Aaron, Amanda, Mary, Jessica, Meghan, Dawn,and William "Joey", brother, Roy and sister, Lillian.
The Copp Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-4pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held the same day at 4pm at the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Waneta Copp's memory may be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956 and or Knickerbocker Eng. Co No 1, PO Box 24 Valley Cottage, NY 10989.
