Lazard Cahn was a scientist and more important to me, he was an outstanding mineral collector. He first identified and described the mineral Cahnite. Mr. Cahn later had this beautiful mineral crystal named after him. His tombstone was cut in the shape of a Cahnite crystal. Most of the cahnite crystals known to me (6) are twinned and about 3/4 inch, largest dimension. Imagine this wonderful object as a penetration of itself, balanced perfectly, slightly frosty yet transparent. It is a wonderful legacy Mr. Cahn.
