James married Ada Wilson (b. 1858, d. 1888) in 1887. The one child of this union, Alice (b. ca 18 Feb 1888, d. 30 Sep 1888), died in infancy shortly after her mother's childbirth death.
On May 14,1896, in Catoosa County Georgia, he married Nannie J Donaldson Smith (b.circa May 1865 in Alabama, d. 1930 in Los Angeles, California) and they had two sons: Ernest Wilson (b. 1894, d. July 1966), and Dr. Alfred Donaldson (b. 1898 d. August 23, 1967).
Nannie had at two children from her first marriage: Ellen Smith (b. 1882 in Alabama), and Sidney Sullivan Smith (b. 1883 in Cherokee County Alabama).
The cemetery interment records list James, Ada, Alice, as well as James younger brother George, as being buried in Section 4, Lot 136. The marker in the lower RH portion of the photo is clearly marked 136|135, however any headstones that were once in place are no longer here.
James was a widower by the time he died. The graves of Nannie and their children have not been located.
The death certificate for James Wilson Trotter has been posted but has the following mistakes: the name of his father isn't Sam Trotter, his birth date wasn't in March and Ernest W Trotter provided the information, not J.W.
