Pioneer Resident Is Taken By Death

Funeral services for Matt Berger, age 61, who died at his home in Terry Sunday of a heart attack, were held at the Terry Catholic church yesterday with Father Bernard Geissen conducting the funeral rites.
Matt Berger was born in Glen Ullin ND on October 10, 1887, the son of Frank and Barbara Schantz Berger. He moved to MT in 1906 where he homesteaded on Cherry Creek. In 1928 he was married to Irene Davis and of this marriage were born two children, Robert and Teresa Berger. Mr and Mrs Berger were later divorced and the children now live with their mother in Vancouver WA. In 1928 the deceased moved to Terry with his family and he was making his home here at the time of his death.
Survivors also include four brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Frank, Christ and William of Tacoma WA, and Adam of Terry. The sisters are Anna Shaw of Flasher ND, and Teresa Schmidt of Tacoma WA.
Pallbearers for the funeral were John Talarski, Adam Talarski, Joe Kreig, Fred Knopp, Emanuel Spidel, and Don Young. Interment was in the Terry Cemetery.
