Ruth Ann Hooper, age 73 of Newburgh, Indiana went to be with the Lord Monday, August 24, 2015. She was born August 30, 1941 in Hawesville, Kentucky to her parents, Thelma and Robert Vaughn. Ruth was a member of United Methodist Church in Cloverport, Kentucky. She attended Murray State University (BSW) and University of Southern Indiana (MSW). Ruth achieved a Master's Degree and served the community as a dedicated Social Worker for several public and private agencies. She also worked as a certified Real Estate Broker for 8 years. Ruth loved to travel and always felt that Gatlinburg, Tennessee was her second home. She spent as much time as possible in the Great Smoky Mountains walking the trails with her husband George, whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage with on June 15th of this year. Ruth enjoyed reading, sewing, decorating and cooking for holidays. Her family was the center of her attention and Ruth loved to be around her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Robert Vaughn; and brothers, Donald and Jimmy Vaughn.
The family will receive friends 2-2:30 PM Saturday with funeral service to follow at 2:30 in Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel, Pigeon Forge. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum of Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.
