Early Life: Ria was born on February 14, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second of five children to Frank Larsen and Naomi "Rae" Young Barney. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Tooele, Kearns and Taylorsville, Utah, as well as, Riverside, California.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: When Ria was 19, she fell in love with Ronald Lyle Hatch. They were sealed together in marriage in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on January 25, 1968. Ria attended Riverside Community College and Brigham Young University. Throughout their marriage, Ron and Ria lived in Riverside, California; Sand Point and Annette Island, Alaska; Riverton, Wyoming; and Elk Ridge and Provo, Utah. Along the way they had twelve children. At the time of her passing, Ria was serving a full time LDS mission with her husband in the Utah Orem LDS Mission where her talent with computers was utilized as she worked on family history. Ria possessed a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and shared it with others, particularly her family. She had great joy in her faith and the faith of her descendants. Ria Elaine Barney Hatch passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2015, due to complications from congestive heart failure.
Family Message: "A very much loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ria will be missed, but all who love her take comfort in her faith in the plan of salvation and hope to be reunited with her again."
Survived By: Her loving husband, Ronald Lyle Hatch; her children: Matthew Hatch, Laura Rupper, Philip Hatch, Tauna Ireland, Michael Hatch, Neal Hatch, Richard Hatch, Paula Kremser, Gregory Hatch, Josie Chilton, Audrey Mangum, and Alice Patron; her siblings: Susan Horsley, Maryann Larkin, Dallas Meyers, and Darrin Barney; her in-laws and thirty-five grandchildren.
