ERIE — Leona P. (Oni-Toni) Schwab, 96, formerly of Meadville, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at the Pennsylvania Soldiers & Sailors Home in Erie.

She was born June 18, 1919, in the family farmhouse in Meadville, the daughter of the late Edward M. Roha and Bertha V. Hess Roha. She married Paul R. (Huck) Schwab on Oct. 2, 1948. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2014.

She attended Meadville High School. She had been employed as a cone operator on machines at the American Viscose Corp. She served in WAC from 1943 until 1946 as a clerk general at Roswell Air Base. After peace was declared in 1945, Leona was sent to Fort Lewis, Wash., Separation Center, typing Form 100s. She served as a sergeant in the military and was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal, TWXWD23 on Oct. 23, 1945, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal and received the WAAC Ribbon. She was honorably discharged on Jan. 24, 1946, at Separation Center Camp Beale, Calif. She was a member of the American Legion Post 0205 and the Dorothy Kimmel Legion Post. She was of the Protestant faith.

Leona enjoyed spending time bowling and was on the Bowling Flower League. She loved to cross-stitch and sew and enjoyed growing her own flowers, especially begonias, and baking pies.

She loved her family very much. She is survived by three daughters, Christine Malliard and her husband, Danny, of Meadville, Charlotte Polach and her husband, Stanley, of Corry and Paula Polach and her late husband, Casimir, of Saegertown; 10 grandchildren, Jayson Hopkins, Rickie Hopkins, Autumn Homerski, Paul Polach, Megan Proper, Emiley White, Abigail Polach, Tracey Polach, Lorie Kirdahy and Steve Polach; 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; a brother, Dale M. Roha residing at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown. She is further survived by nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Leona was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Mushrush; and by five brothers, Edward A. Roha, Arthur J. Roha, Victor S. Roha, Ernest C. Roha and Paul C. Roha; and a son-in-law, Casimir Polach.
